Andrea Conangla is portuguese / catalan soprano that specializes in contemporary music in Stuttgart (Germany) with Prof. Angelika Luz.
She started her musical studies in 2005, first playing violin, trumpet and experimenting in 2008 with singing. During her studies in Portugal (University of Aveiro), The Netherlands (Prins Claus Conservatorium) Andrea Conangla developed a creative approach to the teaching of voice to actors through movement and improvisation. Andrea was a guest teacher at the Balleteatro School, Porto.
In 2013 she won the 1st prize in the International Music Competition Santa Cecilia in Porto bringing her to present several Lied recitals in Portugal. Andrea's interest in contemporary music began after the invitation from percussionist Luis Bittencourt to create a duo. Together they had the opportunity to do multiple national and world premieres and played an important role in bringing contemporary music to young audiences in Portugal.
She has been ever since focused in the collaborative and interdisciplinary aspect of music, namely in working closely with young composers, educational projects and ensemble music. Young artist programs were an important part of Andrea's education, particularly Tenso Europe Chamber Choir and Academy Voix Nouvelles (2019).
Andrea Conangla is based in Stuttgart, Germany, and has been active internationally as a soloist in classical repertoire as well as in chamber music dedicated to more recent works. Bach's Passions, Brahms Requiem and Händel's Messiah, often feature in Andrea's calendar, as well as Bernhard Lang, John Cage, G. Aperghis, i.a., a proof of her flexibility, adaptability and vocal control.
